The MN Songwriter Showcase
Hello friends thank you for inquiring about The Minnesota Songwriter Showcase.
The Showcase takes place every
- Wednesday at the Aster Cafe in NE Minneapolis from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (September - May)
- Sunday at Plums Tavern in Saint Paul from 9 PM to midnight
Both shows are FREE, but otherwise quite different…
Sunday has 15 players (five per hour) with rotating back up players (2-3) every Sunday… (From percussion, pedal steel, Bass, Hammond Organ, Cello to lead guitar and slide) from some of the most talented players in town! (It is considered to be one of the best kept secrets in Minnesota Music & we take that very seriously)
Wednesday hosts 10 players (5 / hour) but it’s all stripped down to just you and your acoustic guitar or house piano. (Reservations are highly recommended for the Aster Cafe even for the Songwriters.)
Unless it’s an “Under the Influence” evening, an annual benefit or tribute, both showcases are original music only. Charts are encouraged but not a necessity.

MUST READ NOTE: Post Covid we do not have any more “open slots“ so we’re just asking for either a referral from a friend that already plays the showcases and/or a video of you playing an original song. Nothing too fancy - YouTube links and personal links work best - preferably NOT Google format!
